Day 10, Balloon Ride
March 16, 2009
5 am - Boat across the Nile to the west bank of Luxor (Thebes)
And here we are! Balloon time!
We've been up since 3:30 am. This is quite the long day.
But it's totally worth it
In our balloon. It holds 16 people plus the pilot
There are a lot of balloon pictures
You don't want to know how many I actually took
The Valley of the Kings is on the other side of the mountain
Ballooning at sunrise is the thing to do!
Matt with the Ramesseum behind him
It's the remains of the mortuary temple of Ramses II
Enjoying the view
Sunrise is starting
Another balloon over some houses
Lots and lots of balloons
I'm here in a balloon!
Sunrise
Lots of houses amidst the ruins
Shot of both of us in the balloon
Trying to get a good sunrise pic...
I'm not entirely sure what this is, but it looks cool
Balloon heading off toward the Valley of the Kings
There's a clear line between desert and grass
Houses on the west bank
Grassy on this side
Matt watching the sun rise
Here you can see desert, grass, the Nile, and Luxor
More balloons
I'm running out of good balloon captions
You can see inside some people's houses
Heading south...
Seriously, you can see in their houses
Our balloon looked just like that one
Our pilot had a cute little pilot's uniform on
Landing soon...
What's in this house?
See our reflexion?
The balloon next to us coming down
And they're able to get us down safely too
